Bona R848 adhesive 15kg is an elastic one-component silane-based adhesive with excellent rib stability for the installation of engineered or solid wood floors (solid wood floors up to 190 mm wide boards).
Particularly suitable for the installation of parquet with low movement (such as engineered parquet and mosaic parquet flooring), Bona R848 adhesive 15kg is a one-component product that’s safe to work with and easy to handle.
Bona R848 adhesive 15kg has rapid initial bonding strength and a firm texture so retains its trowel pattern. The Bona R848 adhesive hardens by a chemical reaction with moisture. It also has good adhesion to almost all substrates and timber materials (see suitable subfloors below). It leaves no black finger marks and any splashes or drips from Bona R848 adhesive can be easily removed before it dries.
When using Bona R848, the use of a primer is generally not necessary if the subfloor and conditions are suitable - if you're unsure, our Technical Team will be able to advise.
As a water and solvent-free adhesive, Bona R848 causes nearly no swelling of the wood once it has been installed.
Suitable subfloors: Cementitious screed Floors levelled with levelling compounds (at least 2mm thick, resistant against plasticiser migration) Calcium sulfate screed Chipboard, OSB Board Other dry and sound subfloors Mastic asphalt screed (Please see technical data sheet for more info on suitability).
Key features of the Bona R848 include:
- Rapid initial bonding strength, meaning that flooring is ready for use in one day
- Excellent initial “green grab” helps the flooring to stay in place.
- Rapid shear strength development – Flooring is ready for furniture and foot traffic in one day.
- Easy to clean properties which mean it won’t harm the finish on hardwood floors and pre-finished trim.
- Water and solvent free, nearly no swelling of the wood.
- Good adhesion to almost all substrates and timber materials.
- Splashed material can be easy removed.
- Allows load after 24 hours.
- Firm texture retains trowel pattern.

Subfloor Preparation: The substrate must in general be even, totally dry, clean, free from cracks and physically sound. The surface should also be slightly textured. If applicable, it must meet the requirements of local standards or codes of practice. If necessary, it should be professionally prepared for laying. A primer is typically not needed. If the sub floor is problematic the use of a primer like Bona D501, R540 or R590 can improve it. Uneven floors should be levelled with Bona H600, H610 (filling of holes), or H660. Note: Bona R848 is suitable in association with under floor heating. Such floors need to pass the heating up protocol to drying up the screed! During installation and three days after the screed temperature must not pass 25°C!
